Jennifer Perrin, a former PhD student from the Biomolecules and Plant Biotechnology (BBV) laboratory at the University of Tours, was recently honored with the prestigious IFPEN-ANRT Thesis Prize. This award, given by IFP Energies nouvelles and the National Association for Research and Technology (ANRT) during the Carnot Meetings, celebrates research projects conducted in partnership with industry for their impact on ecological transition. In a newly released YouTube interview, Jennifer Perrin shares her career journey and discusses the advancements of her research on bioproduction, which combines scientific innovation with environmental impact.
The IFPEN-ANRT Thesis Prize, titled Science-Industry Collaboration for Ecological Transition, highlights research projects that demonstrate the power of partnerships between science and industry to tackle ecological challenges. This year, the prize was awarded to Jennifer Perrin in recognition of the excellence of her thesis, conducted at the Biomolecules and Plant Biotechnology (BBV) laboratory in collaboration with Orgapharm, part of the Axyntis Group.
In this interview available on YouTube, Jennifer Perrin discusses the goals of her thesis project, "Metabolic Engineering Approaches in Yeast to Secure the Production of the Anticancer Drug Etoposide in the Centre-Val de Loire Region". She explains how her work, supervised by Nathalie Guivarc'h and Vincent Courdavault and co-supervised by Sébastien Besseau from BBV lab, exemplifies the importance of academic research and industrial innovation partnerships in advancing ecological transition.
